Liza came into her owner’s life at only 8 weeks old and changed her life. From the moment she was brought home, she has been the sweetest girl with a ton of sass and comedy. Her owner says it was love at first sight and even 4 years later, that feeling has never changed.
Liza came to me and healed my broken heart…
….. It is impossible to pick my favorite things about her – she is just perfect. She is more than a dog, there is something magical behind her eyes. Liza and love at first sight go hand in hand for everyone that meets her.Jamie, Liza’s Owner
A few fun facts about Liza is that she is sucker for peanut butter and her favorite toy is a pink flying pig that she uses as a pacifier when she is extremely excited and during bed time. How much cuter can she get!
Liza ended up a member of the IPC family when her owner picked her up from daycare one day and noticed she wasn’t walking with as much spunk as she usually did and in pain. Later that night she was having a hard time sleeping and her neck seemed to be stuck in an awkward and bizarre position. She also had a hard time moving her hind legs. Obviously, her owner became very concerned and Liza was taken to the ER that night where the vet suspected something called Intervertebral Disc Disease, or IVDD. This type of disease is also referred to as a ruptured or slipped disc and is actually very common in small and longer-bodied breeds, like French Bulldogs. Liza was put on a low amount of steroids and pain medications to help, but after a set back an MRI was done to reveal she in fact had IVDD.
Liza had her first appointment at IPC on August 6, 2019 and the IPC team has fallen in love her just like her owner did when she first met her. Since then, she has come twice a week to receive a variety of therapies; however, we found out quickly that she was not a fan of the underwater treadmill, so it was taken off of her program. Now, she sticks to more fun therapies, like acupuncture, exercise, massage, and laser.
Liza is always ready for a challenge and loves when I try to come up with new things for her to master. She has gotten so strong I do believe her core is significantly better than mine! She’s a delightful girl and brightens my week each time she’s here.Tami, Liza’s Therapist
I cannot say enough about the team. Dr. Martin and Tami are incredible – just incredible. They not only have helped my sweet girl get better and help to manage her IVDD, but they make sure to take care of the human as well, 🙂 They are just both so kind.Jamie, Liza’s Owner
Some of our favorite things about Liza is her incredible ability to be so sweet and so sassy at the same time. She knows her routine and loves it. She is sucker for peanut butter and is known to have the best style in the place with her fun and vibrant harnesses. Her vet, therapists, and owner have seen a dramatic improvement with Liza’s disc issues and plans to continue coming for her bi-weekly appointments. She absolutely loves coming to IPC and we love having her. Every appointment with her is such a blast and we always look forward to seeing her big personality every week.
Liza is such a lovely, social girl and everything she does is 100%. She is so easy for us all to bond with, especially given her ability to devote her entire focus to whomever is in front of her (though it doesn’t hurt if you have a peanut butter cup). She is lucky enough to have a caring, wonderful, sweet, and attentive owner who can pick out any changes and tell us immediately. I am so happy to have met them both and honored to be entrusted with Liza’s care.Dr. Kelli Martin, Veterinarian at IPC
Liza always puts a smile on the IPC staff’s face!!!! I look forward to all my assists with her because I know I will get plenty of peanut butter kisses and love! She is for sure the peanut butter queen around here…and the queen in general.Brooklyn, TA at IPC
Each month we ask our POTM to select an organization for us to feature. This month, Liza’s owner asked us to feature two organizations that have impacted Liza’s life: Blum Animal Hospital in Lakeview and Pooch Hotel in Lincoln Park. These two organizations have helped Liza and her owner in so many ways to make sure Liza is comfortable and taken care of when needed. Please learn more about them in the links below:
