Patient of the Month October 2020 Homer Glen

Lili

Lili is a patient of Dr. Amber Ihrke and rehab nurse, Michelle, at IPC HG, referred by Dr. Finan at Finan Animal Hospital for a front limb lameness. Lili’s IPC therapy plan includes laser therapy, massage, therapeutic exercises, acupuncture, and chiropractic care. Lili’s parents knew that IPC was the right choice for Lili, because they had another dog, Buerle, who had been a rehab patient of ours in the past. Lili’s parents report that “Lili’s mobility and demeanor have greatly improved.”

About Lili:

Our daughter Devyn begged us to get a dog. She was 10, played travel softball and we were frequently out of town so we didn’t feel it was a good idea.  She kept badgering us.   We decided to appease her and told her if she hit a home run, a legitimate out of the park home run (the odds at that time were not in Devyn’s favor, it was virtually impossible) we would get a dog.  On Mother’s Day, 2010, Devyn hit a legit out of the park home run …  we adopted Lili (age 2) on September 13, 2010
Lili was gregarious, eager to please but needed a lot of work in the manners department.  We worked with MidAmerica Service Dogs who offered a training program for dogs outside of their service dog program.  Lili did so well she became a candidate for CGC.

Lili is the sweetest Collie. She came to us with a front limb lameness and we started Acupuncture, therapeutic exercises, and massage.  Her limping has improved and she really enjoys her massages.  We always look forward to our visits with Lili.

Dr. Ihrke, Lili’s IPC Veterinarian

We absolutely love working with Lili! She is one of the sweetest dogs out there and will usually do just about anything for her salmon treats, although she does like to be stubborn sometimes. Through massage, exercises, and occasionally laser therapy (in addition to the acupuncture and chiropractic work Dr. Amber does with her), her right front limb lameness improved, and we have helped keep her agile in her older years. It’s always a good day when Lili comes walking through the door!
