Integrative Pet Care is excited to welcome Erin Kowalski to our team! Erin has worked closely with IPC for several years, first as client and colleague and now as a massage therapist and animal rehabilitation therapist in training. You may recognize her as the founder of Bialy’s Wellness Foundation and as (now-officially) mom to Josh!
Erin has always been passionate about helping dogs and started volunteering with Chicagoland animal rescues by transporting dogs from high-kill shelters to safety and walking dogs who never got the chance to get out of their crates to exercise. She quickly found her place as a permanent foster parent to many puppies. Over the past 8 years she has opened her home to 76 foster dogs and founded Bialy’s Wellness Foundation.
Her initial interest in canine massage came from working with rescue animals. After discussing and researching the benefits of canine massage and how it could help the wonderful dogs in the rescue community, Erin enrolled in the Advanced Certification program at Chicago School of Canine Massage and completed the amazingly influential course in 2011.
Erin has continued to educate herself in additional alternative modalities. She is a Reiki Master Practitioner, Pet Tech Certified in Pet First Aid & CPR, and has vast knowledge of canine nutrition, health and puppy care. She continues to educate herself in aromatherapy for animals in addition to being enrolled in a certification program for Pet Loss and Grief Counseling which she is aiming to complete in 2016.
Erin’s experience fostering and caring for paralyzed dogs which prompted the founding of Bialy’s Wellness Foundation has also given her a wealth of knowledge working with canines with neurological conditions and mobility challenges. It is Erin’s goal to help as many dogs possible optimize their quality of life.
Erin is a Nationally Certified Canine Massage Therapist (NCCMT) and Reiki Practitioner, a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) and the International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP), a Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA) Practitioner, and a Certified Practitioner Member of the National Board of Certification for Animal Acupressure and Massage (NBCAAM).
When not working or volunteering with Bialy’s Wellness Foundation, Erin enjoys spending time cooking, traveling and exploring the restaurants of Chicago with her husband, Will, or taking walks with their 1 year old paralyzed pit bull mix, Josh, and the foster puppy frequenting their home.
Please join us in welcoming Erin to the IPC family- whether you have the opportunity to work with her or see her around the clinic helping our patients!
